Tuskegee Airmen 37th National Convention

Original members of the Tuskegee Airmen look on during the rededication ceremony of Tuskegee Airman Avenue at McGuire Air Force Base, NJ on July 17th, during the 37th annual Tuskegee Airmen National Convention in Philadelphia, PA. The Tuskegee Airmen are recognized for their significant contributions to the various military operations of World War II in the face of racial hostility. They flew combat missions as bomber escorts and laid the foundation for racial diversity in the U.S. military and government, earning the prestigious Congressional Gold Medal. Military members from each branch of service attend this conference to learn more about the Tuskegee Airmen and to attend leadership forums conducted by senior leadership panels.(U.S. Air Force photo/Tech.
