This facility is not underneath tons of granite in the midst of Cheyenne Mountain, like a more well-known part of the 21st Space Wing. It is located below street level in a building on Peterson Air Force Base, protecting a different part of space – cyberspace.

Following the road for about a dozen miles across sparse, barren tundra resembling a moonscape more than any earthly land, a form comes into view in stark contrast to the profile of the hillside.

  • Colorado stands in for Afghanistan during pilot training

    The 81st Fighter Squadron from Moody Air Force Base, Georgia, spent two weeks at Peterson AFB training six Afghan Air Force pilots to fly A-29 Super Tucano. The pilots are participating in a program that began in 2015 and will ultimately train 30 pilots and 90 maintainers through 2018. Most training takes place at Moody AFB, but the area’s geography doesn’t replicate Afghanistan.
