  • 19th Air Force experts transform flying training syllabi

    Maj. Gen. Patrick Doherty, 19th Air Force commander, asked his team to deliver a redesigned Undergraduate Pilot Training syllabi “that embraced common sense and held ideas from the leaders and instructor corps to produce more pilots, higher quality pilots with agility and speed.” The homework assignment was to “transform the current syllabi to match the more competitive world in the future,” according to Doherty.
  • Officials approve HSM for recent disaster relief, specify eligibility requirements

    The Joint Staff recently approved the Humanitarian Service Medal for service members, Coast Guardsmen, and members of the Reserve components, to include the National Guard, who were physically present during recent hurricane disaster relief.
  • FYI: Blended Retirement System

    One of the most wide-reaching and significant changes to military pay and benefits over the last 70 years took effect Jan. 1, 2018, with the implementation of the Uniformed Services Blended Retirement System, known as BRS. Nearly 1.6 million current service members have the option to remain in the current legacy “high-3” retirement system or to choose the BRS. Opt-in eligible service members have a year to make their retirement system election. The open period for the majority of service members is from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2018.

    The Airman’s Creed is a promise to the United States and a rallying cry for Airmen to remain the world’s greatest Air Force. The words, “My mission is to fly, fight and win,” hold true for 20th Air Force’s Tech. Sgt. Corey Rucker, a world champion who embodies the creed both professionally and personally.
  • Airmen encouraged to update their vRED, SOES information

    Airmen should review and update their virtual Record of Emergency Data and their Servicemembers’ Online Election System information annually, before deploying and each time they experience a major life change, such as marriage or divorce, permanent change of station or birth of a child.

    Air Force leaders recently announced the Air Force’s continuation pay rates which are part of the new Blended Retirement System.
  • Air Force releases medical advanced academic selections for 2018

    The Air Force has selected almost 150 active-duty medical professionals to further develop their academic knowledge and skills through Health Profession Education Requirements Board opportunities in 2018.
  • Active-duty positions added for Guard, Reserve pilots

    Air National Guard and Reserve pilots now have 20 more opportunities to fly in order to augment active duty chronic vacancies across the force.
  • Air Force releases CY17C central selection board results

    The Air Force has selected 298 active-duty officers for promotion to colonel, lieutenant colonel and major during the calendar year 17C Colonel Line of the Air Force Judge Advocate, Lieutenant Colonel Nurse Corps and Major Chaplain, LAF-J and Nurse Corps central selection boards.

  • AF adds international affairs to VLPAD program

    The Air Force has added two international affairs specialties to the Voluntary Limited Period of Active Duty program, which allows Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard Airmen from select Air Force officer and enlisted specialties to serve on active duty in vacant active-duty positions for three years and one day, if approved for release from their reserve or ANG component.
  • Total force development services now in a single-point center

    The Air Force has consolidated all total force development services and resources to a single-point center. All Airmen (active duty, Reserve, Guard and civilian) will now be able to fully utilize all force development resources through the virtual force development center.
  • Eligible Airmen may choose retirement plan at 14 1/2-year mark

    The Air Force Personnel Center has developed an automatic notification process that sends a message directly to active-duty Air Force and headquarters Active Guard Reserve members when they reach 14 1/2 years of active service.
  • AF Global Strike, Air Reserve Component leaders discuss ‘way ahead’

    Air Force Global Strike Command hosted its first Air Reserve Component focus day here, Aug. 26 and 27.
