  • More than security: Airmen are last line of defense for aircraft, crew

FAST members are security forces Airmen trained to protect mobility aircraft and travel on planes such as C-17 Globemaster III's and C-130H Hercules here at the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing. They are the last line of defense for both the plane and aircrew.
  • From cop to chaplain, one role helps with the other

While every job plays an important role in the Air Force, two are known well by every Airman: security forces and chaplains. Airmen recognize security forces members as the guardians of the gates for military installations. On the other hand, many Airmen know chaplains to be confidential sources that are sought out in times of need or leaned on for spiritual guidance. Though the jobs seem very different at first glance, one Airman said, his duty in one role has helped him fulfill his duty in the other.
  • First AF security forces readiness center opens

As a young captain, Air Force Brig. Gen. Allen Jamerson once wondered why the Air Force did not have one place where security forces could go for training and evaluation. "All security forces would come through (Fort Polk, Louisiana), and they had all been trained at different regional training centers, and there was a different standard of training for each one of those people based on the center they went to," said Jamerson, director of security forces, deputy chief of staff for logistics, installations and mission support, Air Force headquarters, Washington, D.C. Jamerson was not the only one who aspired for a better training system, and during the Desert Defender Ground Combat Readiness Training Center ribbon-cutting ceremony at Fort Bliss Thursday, Jamerson saw his hopes become a reality.
  • Eyes in the sky

Security Forces Airmen at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, aim to enhance comprehensive base safety and security through its Small Unmanned Aircraft System, or SUAS, program.
  • Hunting trip turns to saving life for 2 Alaska Airmen

A November hunting trip in the extreme North turned into a lifesaving opportunity in the blink of an eye for two master sergeants from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.
  • Twin defenders share same military story

When a young Airman joins the Air Force, saying goodbye to family is inevitable. But for two brothers, saying goodbye is one thing that they have yet to experience. Woo and Ja Lee, 20 year-old identical twins from Fresno, Calif., have shared not only their civilian life, but to their surprise, a military career.
  • Security forces Airmen -- ready to roll

The 1st Special Operations Security Forces Squadron's bike patrol make their rounds almost daily through base housing and other designated areas, making their presence known with the goal of community policing and mobility in mind.
