  • Some medically separated Airmen can have their disability ratings reviewed

    Airmen who were medically separated between Sept. 11, 2001 and Dec. 31, 2009, can have their disability ratings reviewed. Airmen medically separated with a combined disability rating of 20 percent or less and who received separation pay versus medical retirement may request a Physical Disability Board of Review.
  • Air Force fighter pilots of the year announced

    The Air Force announced the recipients of the 2016 Air Force Fighter Annual Awards in May 2017. The award is designed to recognize fighter pilots and weapon systems officers’ commitment, performance, leadership and aviation skills that were instrumental to mission success of their units, the U.S. Air Force and the Defense Department.
  • Defense Department launches retirement system comparison calculator

    The Defense Department officially launched the Blended Retirement System comparison calculator, providing BRS opt-in eligible service members their first opportunity for an individualized comparison of retirement systems. The comprehensive tool, in combination with the mandatory BRS Opt-In Course, will assist the nearly 1.7 million opt-in eligible service members and their families make an informed decision on whether or not to elect the new retirement system. The BRS goes into effect on Jan. 1, 2018.
  • USSTRATCOM, German air force sign liaison officer agreement

    U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) and the German air force (Luftwaffe) signed a memorandum of agreement June 1, 2017, to assign a German liaison officer (LNO) to Joint Functional Component Command for Space.

  • Developer begins construction on innovation center at Hill AFB

    Developers at Hill Air Force Base are breaking ground on another new construction project this week, creating more space for new jobs near the base. Air Force and Utah officials participated in a ceremony March 3, 2017, to mark the progress at Falcon Hill National Aerospace Research Park. The new 21,000-square-foot building will be leased by the Utah Science Technology and Research Initiative, which will operate an Innovation Center in the building.

  • DOD makes prescription drug disposal easy for beneficiaries

    Defense Department health care beneficiaries can now safely and easily dispose of expired and unused medications by bringing them to a military treatment facility or, in some cases, picking up a mailing envelope from the installation to send for destruction of the medications free of charge, Dr. George Jones, the chief of the Defense Health Agency’s Pharmacy Operations Division, said Sept. 12.
  • Utah DOD agencies host annual meeting with American Indian tribes

    Utah Defense Department agencies hosted their annual face-to-face meeting at Bear River Bird Refuge in Brigham City, Utah, Aug. 25-26 with American Indian tribes who claim ancestral and ongoing ties to lands managed by the DOD agencies.
