  • Air Force update for COVID-19

    In an effort to minimize the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 and to prioritize the health and safety of Department of the Air Force personnel, the following modifications have been made:
  • Valiant Shield 2020: Joint force training protects Indo-Pacific

    The eighth iteration of exercise Valiant Shield concluded Sept. 25 following 12 days of joint operations at sea, in the air, on land, and in cyberspace.
  • West Virginia ANG hosts inaugural air-to-air staff talks with Peru

    The workshop brought together key personnel from 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern), Military Assistance & Advisory Group (MAAG) – U.S. Embassy Lima, the Air Forces Southern liaison officer from Peru, Assistant Air Attaché to the Embassy of Peru in Washington, D.C., Peruvian Air Force Maj. Gen. José Luis Barrios Espinosa, and representatives from the WVANG.
  • AFCEC certifies evaluators despite COVID-19 restrictions

    Before COVID-19, students would travel to Tyndall Air Force Base for the two-week Contingency Airfield Pavement Evaluation, or CAPE, training course. CAPE training was hosted every other month, with each course accommodating up to 18 students, but COVID-19 brought the course to a stop in early 2020.
  • Spangdahlem AB Airmen integrate in joint multinational exercise Astral Knight

    As part of joint multinational exercise Astral Knight, a KC-10 Extender refueled multiple Polish and U.S. aircraft while over Polish airspace Sept. 22 and 24.
  • It’s a wrap: Thracian Viper 2020

    Airmen and U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons assigned to the 31st Fighter Wing, Aviano Air Base, Italy, and Airmen assigned to the 435th Air Ground Operations Wing, 86th Airlift Wing, Ramstein Air Base, Germany, participated in Thracian Viper 20, a multilateral training exercise with the Bulgarian air force at Graf Ignatievo Air Base, Bulgaria, Sept. 21 to 25.
  • New "The Air Force Starts Here" podcast highlights upcoming AFCLC Language, Regional Expertise and Culture Symposium

    A sneak peek into “Women, Peace and Security,” a scheduled presentation at Air University’s upcoming Language, Regional Expertise and Culture Symposium is highlighted on the latest episode of "The Air Force Starts Here," released Sept. 24.
  • B-1B Integrated Battle Station modification completed

    The IBS was developed as three separate modifications: Fully Integrated Data Link, Vertical Situational Display Unit and Central Integrated Test System.
  • CSAF visits Peterson AFB

    Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Charles Q. Brown, Jr. traveled to Colorado Springs, Colo. to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy change of command and retirement ceremony before returning to Peterson Air Force Base to meet with United States Space Command, United States Northern Command and Peterson-Schriever Garrison personnel.

  • NTTR: Training our way to victory

    Red Flag, an air-to-air combat exercise for pilots, and Green Flag, a ground combat training exercise, are two of the largest training operations in the Department of Defense. The the Nevada Test and Training Range enables training opportunities like these, while also providing a practice home to the U.S. Air Force Aerial Demonstration team and daily flying operations for squadrons based at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.

  • ABMS signs more companies post onramp

    This most recent selections – the fourth round announced in as many months – support an ABMS acquisition strategy that spurs competition from a variety of traditional defense as well as commercial-focused sources and streamlines the contracting process to produce capability in roughly four month sprints.
  • Air Force awards multiple contracts for airfield construction at NAS Keflavik

    The projects, supporting the European Deterrence Initiative, or EDI, implemented by the U.S. European Command, intends to increase the responsiveness and readiness of U.S. Air Forces, NATO member-state forces and allies in Europe.
  • Academy’s 21st superintendent reports for duty

    Clark became the Academy’s 21st superintendent during a Sept. 23 ceremony at Falcon Stadium, attended by Secretary of the Air Force Barbara Barrett and the service’s top brass: Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Charles Q. Brown, Jr. and Space Force Chief of Space Operations Gen. John W. Raymond.
  • Roper joins first Digital Campaign virtual industry day

    More than 1,500 people tuned in for the virtual event, co-hosted by Dr. Will Roper, assistant secretary of the Air Force for acquisition, technology and logistics, and Gen. Arnold W. Bunch, Jr., commander of Air Force Materiel Command.
  • Kingsley Field firefighters save local homes from catastrophic fire

    In the late evening of Sept. 7, the Kingsley Field Fire Department, part of the 173rd Fighter Wing of the Oregon Air National Guard, received a dispatch call for assistance for a wildland fire burning near Chiloquin, a neighboring community north of the small town in the southwest corner of Oregon.
  • Holloman AFB High-Speed Test Track rainfield undergoes improvements

    A recent project funded by the Test Resource Management Center, or TRMC, will provide rainfield test customers with more options and also increase the operational efficiency at the track.
