Air Force & Space Force announce sweeping changes to maintain superiority amid Great Power Competition

The United States faces a time of consequence marked by significant shifts in the strategic environment. To remain ready, the U.S. Air Force must change.

In early 2024, the Department of the Air Force unveiled sweeping plans for reshaping, refocusing, and reoptimizing the Air Force and Space Force to ensure continued supremacy in their respective domains while better posturing the services to deter and, if necessary, prevail in an era of Great Power Competition. Through a series of 24 DAF-wide key decisions, four core areas which demand the Department’s attention will be addressed: Develop People, Generate Readiness, Project Power and Develop Capabilities.

Today, the Air Force once again finds itself at a critical juncture—an era of Great Power Competition marked by a new security environment, a rapidly evolving character of war, and a formidable competitor. This new era requires understanding its challenges and the attributes needed to succeed.

Embracing change is not a choice; it is a necessity. The Air Force must “reoptimize” into an enterprise prepared for high-end conflicts and long-term strategic competition.

 

USACE Buffalo District Holds Recruiting Event

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District held a Recruiting/Engineer Day Event at Mount Morris Dam, New York on April 27th. The Buffalo District invited both the 41st Brigade Engineer Battalion (BEB) out of Fort Drum and the McKinley High School JROTC students from Buffalo, New York. The event highlighted the mission of the Corps of Engineers and shared information about how to obtain pathways to a federal job.

As part of the recruitment effort, the Buffalo District has employment opportunities for active duty military members, personnel transitioning out of the military, and for high school and college graduates.

This is the first recruiting event of this kind that the Buffalo District has hosted. With the goal of establishing a long-term relationship with the 41st BEB. Due to overwhelming success these will be hosted biannually and will include bringing in organizations to showcase the many opportunities we have for personnel as they transition out of uniform or as they graduate.

Available positions across USACE include biologists, civil engineers, contract specialists, deckhands, electrical engineers, equipment operators, industrial hygienists, mechanical engineers, project planners, project schedulers, program analysts, realty specialists, welders, project managers, and many other positions requiring varying levels of education and experience.
