Secretary of the Air Force Energy, Installations, and Environment

The Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Infrastructure, Energy, and Environment (SAF/IEE) sustains the Air Force as a ready and robust force and preserves America's investment in the Air Force by integrating the best in energy, environment, and installation practices into all Air Force activities.

SAF/IEE provides strategic direction, policy and oversight in:

Energy: Installation energy, innovation, policy development and water resource management
Environment: Environmental compliance, restoration and natural/cultural resource management
Infrastructure: Real property, MILCON, facilities (includes GOV-owned housing/general officer quarter management) and utilities
Resilience Integration: Resilience, Sustainability, and Sustainment

The Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Energy, Installations and Environment's (SAF/IE) Energy Program is responsible for the strategic management and oversight of the Air Force’s energy efforts, partnerships, and program and policy development across the Air Force enterprise. The program supports the overall Air Force Energy Vision of Enhancing Mission Assurance through Energy Assurance, which reflects the Air Force’s emphasis on energy resilience.

Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Installations) provides guidance, direction and oversight of matters pertaining to the shaping and strengthening of Air Force installations in support of personnel and logistical combat capability. This includes asset management, base closures, military construction, family housing, community and congressional interface, joint use of airfields, ranges, and disposal of real property.
