Brig. Gen. Andrew J. Gebara is the Deputy Director, Nuclear Operations, Global Operations Directorate, United States Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. As the command's principal flag officer for the employment and commitment of nuclear forces, General Gebara is responsible for the overall USSTRATCOM nuclear mission. He directs the actions and alert status of the National Airborne Operations Center, the Global Operations Center, and the Airborne Command Post. As the lead for all USSTRATCOM nuclear matters, General Gebara reports to the Combatant Commander on the command’s physical security and mission assurance programs, and oversees the day-to-day readiness of the nation’s strategic deterrent forces: bombers, intercontinental ballistic missiles, and ballistic missile submarines.
General Gebara, a Highland, Calif., native, entered the Air Force in 1991 after commissioning through the United States Naval Academy. A veteran of four campaigns, he has served tours of duty with the Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps, as well as one tour as deputy director of the U.S. Central Command Commander's Initiatives Group, and two deployments serving on the multi-national staff of the Commander, International Security Assistance Force, Kabul, Afghanistan.
General Gebara is a command pilot with more than 3,600 flight hours, including 46 combat sorties in the A-10 and B-2 in support of operations Iraqi Freedom I, Allied Force, and Joint Guard, as well as service both in the air and on the ground in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
