2 Airmen killed in helicopter crash in Afghanistan identified

FORT GEORGE G. MEADE, Md. (AFNS) --
Two Airmen died Oct. 11 when a British Puma Mk2 helicopter crashed in Kabul, Afghanistan, while supporting Operation Freedom's Sentinel.
The Airmen were Maj. Phyllis Pelky and Master Sgt. Gregory T. Kuhse.
Pelky, 45, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, served most recently as the aide-de-damp to the U.S. Air Force Academy superintendent, Lt. Gen. Michelle D. Johnson.
Kuhse, 38, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, was assigned to the 3rd Manpower Requirements Squadron at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.
"We are grieving a deeply felt loss today," Johnson said. "Our heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of Major Pelky and all those affected by this tragedy."
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
