Staff Sgt. Matthew Krause fires his M-4 rifle during a demonstration exercise Oct. 16, 2013, at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. Approximately 1,500 active-duty, Reserve and National Guard Airmen attend the squadronÕs "Brave Defender" training each year. "Defender" is a six-week deployment training course for security forces Airmen. It is one of only six SF deployment training courses in the U.S. The course opened here in 2002 and was established by Air Force Materiel Command to satisfy security forces training requirements in an expeditionary environment.
