5/25/2006 - CAPE CANAVERAL AIR FORCE STATION, Fla. (AFPN) -- The 45th Space Wing supported the successful launch of the NASA GOES-N, a weather satellite launched on a Delta IV booster May 24 from Space Launch Complex 37B here.

The wing provided Eastern Range and launch base support to Boeing Launch Services, which provided the satellite and booster vehicle provider to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

The Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite is a weather-tracking satellite. Its chief mission is to watch hurricanes and typhoons as they develop in oceans.

“The men and women of the 45th Space Wing are proud to be part of the exciting and vital NASA projects, especially the GOES program that provides potential life-saving weather data,” said Col. Gregg Billman, wing vice commander.
