11/15/2007 - SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFPN) -- Coalition airpower integrated with coalition ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan during operations Nov. 14, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.
In Afghanistan, an Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle engaged enemy combatants with a guided bomb unit-12 in Garmser. The enemy combatants were engaging coalition forces in the area. The on-scene joint terminal attack controller confirmed the mission as a success.
An Air Force B-1B Lancer conducted air strikes against enemy fighting positions with GBU-31s in Asadabad. Friendly forces were taking fire from the enemy fighting positions. The mission was reported as successful by the JTAC.
A French Mirage 2000 and a French Mirage F-1 performed shows of force to deter enemy activities in Gereshk. The mission was deemed successful by the JTAC.
Navy F/A-18 Hornets engaged enemy positions with GBU-38s in Orgune. Enemy combatants were engaging coalition forces with small arms fire and rocket propelled grenades. The JTAC confirmed the mission as a success.
An F-15E performed a show of force to deter enemy activities in Bagram. The show of force supported a coalition convoy in the area. The mission was reported as successful by the JTAC.
An F/A-18 released flares during a show of force to deter enemy actions in Now Zad. The JTAC reported that the mission achieved the desired result.
A Mirage 2000 conducted a show of force to deter enemy activities in Musa Qala. The JTAC confirmed the mission as a success.
In Gardez, an F/A-18 released flares during a show of force to deter enemy action. The mission was reported as a success by the JTAC.

In total, 44 close-air-support missions were flown in support of the ISAF and Afghan security forces, reconstruction activities and route patrols.
Nine Air Force surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.
In Iraq, Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons struck buildings in Balad with GBU-38s and a GBU-12. The buildings were hit to deny the enemy further use of the facilities. The JTAC reported the buildings destroyed and deemed the mission as successful.

An enemy vehicle was targeted by an F-16 with a hellfire missile in Baghdad. The vehicle was confirmed to be transporting weapons to include an anti-aircraft artillery piece when struck by the hellfire missile. The missile destroyed the target and the JTAC declared the mission as successful.
In Baghdad, an F-16 performed a show of force to deter enemy activities against a coalition convoy in the area. The JTAC declared the mission as successful.
In total, coalition aircraft flew 45 close-air-support missions for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions supported coalition ground forces, protected key infrastructure, provided over watch for reconstruction activities and helped to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.
Twenty-six Air Force and Navy surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq. Additionally, two Royal Air Force aircraft performed tactical reconnaissance.
Air Force C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster IIIs provided intratheater heavy airlift support, helping to sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa.
Approximately 141 airlift sorties were flown; 462 tons of cargos were delivered, and 2,865 passengers were transported. This included approximately 37,100 pounds of troop re-supply air-dropped in Afghanistan.
Coalition C-130 crews from Australia, Canada, Iraq, Japan and Republic of Korea flew in support of operations in Afghanistan or Iraq.
On Nov. 13, Air Force, French and RAF aerial refueling crews flew 42 sorties and off-loaded approximately 3.1 million pounds of fuel to 246 receiving aircraft.
