8/12/2009 - LAS VEGAS (AFNS) -- Four honorees received awards during the 38th Annual Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., convention at the Palace Station Hotel Aug. 7 here.
Among dozens of original and later-generation Tuskegee Airmen, the honorees at the Aug. 6 through 9 convention were recognized for outstanding leadership, professionalism and community service.
"We want to make sure we recognize some of the outstanding men and women in the U.S. Air Force, and through their interaction with the Tuskegee Airmen, we hope to inspire, motivate and hold high the standards and excellence that represent our Air Force," said retired Lt. Gen. Russell C. Davis, the TAI national president.
The categories and award winners are:
-- Lt. Col. Jacqueline Mudd from Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, won the Gen. Benjamin O. Davis Jr. Military Award in the field grade officer category.
-- Capt. Robert Sturgill from Whiteman AFB, Mo., won the Capt. Robert Williams Military Award in the company grade officer category.
-- Master Sgt. Derek Fromenthal from Robins AFB, Ga., won the Chief Master Sgt. Fred Archer Military Award in the senior NCO category.
-- Tech. Sgt. Kenneth Bruce from Beale AFB, Calif., won the Senior Master Sgt. Margaret Frances Barbour Military Award in the NCO or Airman category.
Reservists from the 459th Air Refueling Wing at Andrews AFB, Md., attended the convention as part of the Human Resources Development Council.
