Airmen deliver fuel, sustain relief efforts

3/18/2011 - Tech. Sgt. Dave Harwood calculates take-off and landing distance March 17, 2011, at Yamagata Airport, Japan, to establish a forward area refueling point there. FARPs allow aircraft to operate at further distances by allowing the aircraft to refuel where no fuel typically exists. The fuel at Yamagata Airport will be used for American search-and-recovery teams during Japan's earthquake and tsunami relief. Sergeant Harwood is a flight engineer with the 17th Special Operations Squadron at Kadena Air Base, Japan. (U.S. Air Force photo/ Staff Sgt. Jonathan Steffen)
