8/23/2012 - NEW YORK (AFNS) -- New York City was this year's stage for one of the Air Force's grandest outreach programs, Air Force Week. The three-day showcase took place in locations throughout the city's five boroughs and included flyovers, interactive displays, Air Force band performances, meet and greets, a movie screening with Tuskegee Airmen, and tributes at professional sporting events.

Air Force Week was established by the Air Force Chief of Staff in 2006 to highlight the missions and accomplishments of Air Force men and women, as well as demonstrate gratitude to communities that support the Air Force.

Airman magazine photojournalists created this portrait gallery to show appreciation to all of the individuals who supported the event.

Here are the 101 faces of Air Force Week. Thank you, New York!

Kind of like why doesn't Space Command have the AF Ball around the same time. They host that event in February.

Why isn't AF Week in Sept maybe even around the 18th That seems to be an important date in AF heritage or are we going to change that too and create new heritage i.e. the Airman's Creed.
