11/7/2012 - JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas (AFNS) -- More than 700 officers and 120 civilians were selected for intermediate and senior developmental education during the 2012 Developmental Education Designation Board held last month at the Air Force Personnel Center, officials announced today.

To see the list of civilians selected, go to http://www.afpc.af.mil/shared/media/document/AFD-121102-050.pdf.

"Developmental education supports the continuum of education necessary to develop strategic leaders who will ensure the future force is trained, equipped and ready for the challenges ahead. As a result, selection is a very competitive and deliberate process," said Maj. Deborah Packler, AFPC Assignments Directorate Developmental Education chief.

This year, more than 12,000 eligible officers were considered for fewer than 800 slots.

Civilian Airmen are also selected for IDE and SDE based on their potential to help guide the Air Force toward mission accomplishment, said Susan Lang-Krudwig, AFPC Civilian Force Integration Directorate Leadership Development branch.

"Intermediate and senior developmental opportunities are critical to ensure civilian leaders are fully-integrated in leadership and decision-making teams," said Lang-Krudwig.

Selection for civilian IDE and SDE slots is also very competitive, she added, explaining that 120 primary candidates and 41 alternates were selected out of 506 candidates.

Airmen selected for IDE and SDE will attend advanced training and senior leader development programs including Air War College, the Executive Leadership Development Program and more.

For school information and reporting guidance, selected Airmen can go to the Personnel Services Delivery Memorandum 12-85, CY12 Intermediate and Senior Developmental Education (IDE/SDE) Designation Board and Civilian Developmental Education (CDE) Designation Board Results, on the myPers website.

Go to https://mypers.af.mil and select "search all components" in the drop down menu, and enter PSDM in the search window. Selectees can also contact their local military or civilian personnel section for school information and reporting guidance.
