BRIGADIER GENERAL DAVID M. "TANKER" SNYDER Brig. Gen. David M. "Tanker" Snyder is Director of Strategic Plans, Programs and International Affairs, Headquarters Pacific Air Forces, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii. In this capacity he serves as the PACAF focal point for command input for the Department of Defense planning, programming, budgeting and execution system, regional security assistance and international affairs. He also oversees doctrine development and command arrangements, and manages resources, force development and modernization within PACAF. General Snyder entered the Air Force in May 1978 as a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo. His commands include an airlift squadron, operations group and air mobility wing. He has also served as chief of staff, director of personnel, and as a command director for the Cheyenne Mountain Operations Center, North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Space Command. He was then assigned as executive officer to the Commanders of U.S. Transportation Command and Air Mobility Command, Scott AFB, Ill. Prior to assuming his current duties, General Snyder served as the Deputy Director of Strategic Planning and Policy for Headquarters U.S. Pacific Command. While assigned as Commander, 6th Air Mobility Wing, and Installation Commander, MacDill AFB, Fla., General Snyder served for nearly four months as the Director of Mobility Forces for U.S. Central Command. He deployed to the Combined Air Operations Center, Southwest Asia, where he flew 16 combat sorties and over 81 combat hours, earning the Air Medal. General Snyder is a command pilot, having logged nearly 4,400 hours in KC-135, C-37, C-141, T-41, T-1, T-37, T-38 and AT-38 aircraft.
