GERALD R. HUST Selected for reassignment as Director, Defense Policy and Plans, Office of the Defense Advisor, U.S. Mission to NATO, Brussels, Belgium Gerald R. Hust, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is the Director of Policy, International Affairs, Office of the Under Secretary of the Air Force (International Affairs), the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Mr. Hust develops and implements national, Department of Defense and Air Force policies governing security assistance, international armaments cooperative development, foreign disclosure and technology transfer, as well as military and civilian personnel exchange programs supporting national security objectives. He is also the functional manager of the International Affairs career field and oversees the Air Force's Air Attache program. Mr. Hust entered the Air Force in June 1977 after graduating from the U.S. Air Force Academy. As a weapons systems officer, he flew the F-111 at Royal Air Force Upper Heyford and RAF Lakenheath, England, and Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho. He accumulated 2,400 flying hours, to include 100 combat hours during Operation Desert Storm. He has held command positions at the squadron, group and installation levels, and he has served in staff positions at Headquarters U.S. Air Forces Europe, Headquarters U.S. European Command and Headquarters U.S. Air Force. Mr. Hust retired from the Air Force in the grade of colonel and was appointed to the Senior Executive Service in 2004. Prior to his current assignment, he was the Director of International Training and Education at Headquarters Air Education and Training Command, Randolph AFB, Texas.
