LIEUTENANT GENERAL JAMES E. SHERRARD III

Lt. Gen. James E. Sherrard III is Chief of Air Force Reserve, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C., and Commander, Air Force Reserve Command, Robins Air Force Base, Ga. As Chief of Air Force Reserve, he serves as principal adviser on Reserve matters to the Air Force Chief of Staff. As Commander of Air Force Reserve Command, he has full responsibility for the supervision of all U.S. Air Force Reserve units around the world.

The general was a distinguished graduate of the University of Mississippi's Reserve Officer Training Corps program and entered active duty in July 1965. A command pilot with more than 5,000 flying hours, he has commanded an Air Force Reserve group, two wings and two numbered air forces. Before assuming his current position, he was Commander of the 22nd Air Force at Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga.

The general is a native of Tutwiler, Miss.
