BRIGADIER GENERAL JOHN P. ROLLSTON Brigadier General John P. Rollston is deputy chief of staff for manpower and personnel, Headquarters Air Force Logistics Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. General Rollston is a native of Webster Groves, Mo. He served as an enlisted man for two years before entering the U.S. Military Academy where he received his commission in 1952. He holds a master's degree in engineering management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, N.Y. Since earning his wings in 1953, the General has held various flying and administrative assignments at all levels of command. After completing the Air War College in August 1971, as a distinguished graduate, he became deputy commander for operations, 71st Flying Training Wing, Vance Air Force Base, Okla. He assumed command of the wing in June 1972. Moving to Randolph Air Force Base, Texas, in October 1973, General Rollston was assigned as commander, 12th Flying Training Wing. In July 1975 he become vice commander, Chanute Technical Training Center, Chanute Air Force Base, Ill. Next he served as inspector general, Headquarters Air Training Command, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas, from February 1977 until assuming his present position in March 1979. General Rollston's overseas service includes tours in Japan, Korea, China, Hawaii and Vietnam, where he flew 180 combat missions in the F-100. His military decorations and awards include the Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal with seven oak leaf clusters, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster and Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with star. General Rollston is a command pilot with more than 5,000 hours flying time and has qualified in more than 20 different aircraft. He was promoted to brigadier general on Feb. 2, 1978, with date of rank Jan. 17, 1978. (Current as of September 1979)
