MAJOR GENERAL O.G. MANNON

Maj. Gen. O.G. Mannon is Special Assistant to the Commander, Headquarters Air Force Special Operations Command.  The command has approximately 19,000 active-duty, Reserve, Air National Guard and civilian professionals.   His last duty was Chief of Staff, Headquarters U.S. Africa Command.

General Mannon entered the Air Force in 1980 as a distinguished graduate of the Officer Training School. He has held a number of flying and staff positions to include instructor pilot and numbered Air Force headquarters airlift execution officer. He has served as Deputy Commanding Officer and Chief of Staff to Special Operations Command South, Deputy Director for Special Operations on the Joint Staff and Vice Commander of Air Force Special Operations Command. He has commanded at the squadron, group and wing levels. 

The general has also commanded a joint special operations air component, and was Joint Special Operations Task Force Deputy Commander in Northern Iraq during the opening days and weeks of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He also commanded an Afghanistan-based joint task force supporting Operation Enduring Freedom, as well as an expeditionary special operations wing controlling special operations aviation assets from three services supporting operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. He is a command pilot with more than 4,400 flying hours.
