MAJOR GENERAL RUSH B. LINCOLN

General Rush B. Lincoln was born in Boonesboro, Iowa, on Dec. 8, 1881. He graduated from Iowa State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1904. He enlisted in the Regular Army and served in the ranks of private, corporal and sergeant until Feb. 28, 1907, when he accepted a commission as a second lieutenant of Infantry.

First lieutenant, June 7, 1911; captain, July 1, 1916; major (temporary), Aug. 5, 1917; lieutenant colonel (temporary), Aug. 20, 1918. He reverted to his permanent rank of captain on June 30, 1920, and was promoted to major, Regular Army, on July 1, 1920; lieutenant colonel, May 21, 1930; colonel, Aug. 1, 1935; brigadier general, Oct. 1, 1940, and major general, July 7, 1941.
