MAJOR GENERAL SCOTT R. NICHOLS

Maj. Gen Scott R. Nichols is the mobilization assistant to the Commander, Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill. He serves as the principal adviser to the commander for the 43,000 Air Force Reservists that are part of the Total Force air mobility community, operating combat delivery and strategic airlift, air refueling, aeromedical, and special mission aircraft in support of national interests.

General Nichols was born in Rochester, N.Y., and graduated from high school in Winnipeg, Canada. He received a bachelor's degree in English and history from the University of Manitoba, Canada. He entered the Air Force in 1969 through Officer Training School. His Air Force experience includes tours in Southeast Asia on a KC-135 tanker aircraft. He has also served as a C-130 and C-141 squadron operations officer and wing deputy commander for operations. 

The general commanded a C-130 airlift wing and a C-141/KC-10 air mobility wing. He has also served as Inspector General for the Air Force Reserve and completed a Pentagon tour as Chief of the Operations and Plans Division in the Directorate of Operations and Requirements. He was mobilization assistant to the Commander, 21st Air Force, and served a tour in Southwest Asia as the Director of Mobility Forces.
