BRIGADIER GENERAL MURIEL R. MCCARTHY Brig. Gen. Muriel R. McCarthy is the Reserve Deputy to the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Manpower and Reserve Affairs. SAF/MR is responsible for the oversight of manpower, military and civilian personnel, Reserve component affairs, and readiness support for the Department of the Air Force. General McCarthy was commissioned in the Air Force in 1985 through Officer Training School. She served on active duty at the unit, numbered air force, and major command levels. In 1993, she entered the Air Force Reserve, first serving as an individual mobilization augmentee and then entering extended active duty in 1994. As a Reservist, she has held numerous positions on the Headquarters Air Force staff, combatant command, major command, and agency levels. Prior to assuming her current position, she served as the mobilization assistant to the Director, Partnering, Headquarters U.S. Southern Command.
