JEFFERY R. SHELTON

Jeffery R. Shelton, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is the Deputy Administrative Assistant to the Secretary of the Air Force, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C. He assists the Administrative Assistant in executing the responsibilities of the office, to include performing high-level assignments according to secretarial policies, goals and objectives. He oversees the execution and programming of the Headquarters U.S. Air Force portfolio with an annual budget of $5.6 billion and 37,000 personnel. Mr. Shelton also assists in managing and administratively supporting the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, its 1,650-member Secretariat and 2,400-member- supported field operating agencies, to include manpower, personnel, organization, budget, supply and the Secretary's contingency fund; providing information, personnel and industrial security oversight for U.S. treaty issues, special access programs and antiterrorism. He also assists in establishing policy and overseeing worldwide Air Force Departmental Publishing, the Air Force Declassification Office, the Air Force Art Program Office, the Air Force Executive Dining Facility and the Air Force Central Adjudication Facility

Mr. Shelton, a native of South Carolina, entered federal service in 1981 and spent his first four years at Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. He was then assigned to the Joint Depot Maintenance Analysis Group, Gentile Air Force Station, Ohio, where he served in a variety of positions. Mr. Shelton completed a two-year logistics career broadening assignment at the Pentagon, Washington, D.C., and then moved to Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, where he was the Command Public and Private Competition Program Manager and BRAC Liaison Officer.

In 1999, he has served in management and leadership positions with the Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Secretary of the Air Force for Financial Management and Budget, and the Secretary of the Air Force for Warfighting, Integration and Chief Information Office. Mr. Shelton was appointed to the Senior Executive Service in May 2008. His executive assignments include the Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary for Acquisition Integration, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Washington, D.C., the Deputy Director of Resource Integration, Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics Installation and Mission Support and the Director of Resource Integration, Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Installations and Mission Support, Headquarters U.S. Air Force.
