Maj. Gen. Robert M. Haire is the Mobilization Assistant to the Director, Defense Intelligence Agency, Washington, D.C. In addition to representing the Director at intelligence forums, Maj. Gen. Haire advises the Director regarding the effective integration and employment of over 1,200 Army, Navy and Air Force Reserve forces supporting DIA.
Maj. Gen. Haire received his commission through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the University of Georgia. He began his Air Force career on active duty as the Officer in Charge of Intelligence Training for an F-15 fighter squadron. He has since served in a wide range of active and Reserve assignments. He has been an Intelligence Analyst at the Defense Intelligence Agency; Chief of Intelligence for a Numbered Air Force; and Deputy Chief of Intelligence for Air Force Reserve Command; and the Acting Director of Intelligence for a combatant command while at European Command. He has deployed in support of combat and counterinsurgency operations in the U.S. Central Command and U.S. Southern Command areas of responsibility. He chaired a Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization team of charged with reviewing Counter IED technologies for Iraq and Afghanistan. He was selected as the Chairman of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence Reserve Military Intelligence General Officer Steering Committee which provided advice and guidance on effective employment of all Joint Reserve forces.
Maj. Gen. Haire was the first to organize the 1,200 DIA Reserve forces into 10 Joint Intelligence Units, significantly increasing the effectiveness of these forces. Prior to his current assignment, Maj. Gen. Haire was the MA to the Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Arlington, Virginia (AF/A2). During this assignment, he served as the Assistant Deputy Director for Intelligence for over five months. During this period, he provided intelligence updates to the Air Force Chief of Staff on a daily basis and he was also the HAF team lead planning for ISR courses of action for combat operations in Libya as well as leading the team that provided ISR surge options to the Secretary of Defense for operations in Iraq.
