BRIGADIER GENERAL JAMES J. MUSCATELL JR. Brig. Gen. James J. Muscatell Jr. is the mobilization assistant to the Director of Operations, U.S. Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill. General Muscatell was commissioned a second lieutenant in 1979 as a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. He entered the Air Force Reserve unit program in 1986 after seven years active duty in a variety of assignments. During his 25 years in the unit program, the general served as a standardization and evaluation pilot, chief of current operations, operations support flight commander and operations officer. He has commanded at the group and wing levels where he was responsible for ensuring medium range airlift for tactical airland and airdrop, modular airborne firefighting, aeromedical evacuation, humanitarian flights and the only aerial weather reconnaissance squadron in the Department of Defense.
