MAJOR GENERAL SCOTT F. SMITH

Maj. Gen. Scott F. Smith is the Director of Training and Readiness, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C. The directorate, encompassing seven divisions and the Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation, is responsible for policy, guidance and oversight of Air Force operational training infrastructure, officer and enlisted operations career field management, operational readiness and reporting, and aircrew management.

General Smith graduated from Columbia University and entered the Air Force through Officer Training School. He has served as an evaluator pilot and instructor navigator with operational and staff experience across all mobility missions and is a veteran of named operations in Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and Africa. General Smith has commanded at squadron, group and wing levels, as well as a Combined Joint Task Force (acting).

Principal staff tours include SecAF/CSAF Action Group, Office of Net Assessment, Secretary of Defense, and Executive Officer, Commander U.S. Southern Command. He also served as the Inspector General, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.
