MITCHEL B. MILLER

Mitchel B. Miller, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is Technical Advisor, Avionics Development, Integration, and Weapon System Cyber Resiliency for the Air Force. He serves as the recognized authority for avionics systems and cybersecurity for weapon systems charged with providing technical oversight and advice to the highest Air Force and government officials. In this role, Mr. Miller has led Air Force wide strategy development efforts for Cyber Resiliency of Weapon Systems, and Positioning, Navigation and Timing.

Mr. Miller entered federal service in 1987 as lead project engineer for Aeronautical Systems Division, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, where he was assigned to development of the Standard Inertial Navigation System and its integration into over 20 different aircraft. After four years he transferred to the B-2 System Program Office where he held several assignments culminating as the Lead Engineer for Navigation and Communication Systems. In 2004, Mr. Miller was appointed as the Chief Avionics Engineer for the C-5M programs, and after 3 years was selected as the Chief Avionics Engineer for the Mobility Wing. He then held the assignment as the B-52 Chief Engineer where he delivered a new integrated avionics client-server architecture that provides improved lethality by allowing in-flight aircraft retasking and retargeting of missions and weapons across the range of B-52 military operations.

In 2010, Mr. Miller was selected as the Chief Architect for the Aeronautical Systems Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. He served as the Senior Technical Advisor in the design, development, integration, networking and production of avionics for airborne weapon systems. Prior to his current appointment, he was Chief Architect for the Engineering and Technical Management Directorate at Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command and was the subject matter expert for Systems of Systems engineering processes, Open System Architecture technology processes, system interoperability, Avionics Integration, Modeling Simulation and Analysis, and Cyber Mission Assurance for Weapon Systems.
