Brig. Gen. Matthew Wolfe Davidson is the Deputy Combined Force Space Component Commander, U.S. Space Command, and Vice Commander, 14th Air Force, Air Force Space Command, Vandenberg Air Force Base, California.

Brig. Gen. Davidson leads more than 17,000 joint and combined personnel with a mission to plan, integrate, conduct and assess global space operations in order to deliver combat relevant space capabilities to combatant commanders, coalition partners, joint forces and the nation. The general plans and executes space operations through four distinct and geographically dispersed operations centers, including Combined Space Operations Center at Vandenberg AFB, California; Missile Warning Center at Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station, Colorado; Joint Overhead Persistent Infrared Center at Buckley AFB, Colorado; and Joint Navigation Warfare Center located at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico.

As Deputy and Vice Commander, Davidson provides space capabilities such as space domain awareness, space electronic warfare, satellite communications, missile warning, nuclear detonation detection, environmental monitoring, military intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance, navigation warfare, command and control, positioning, navigation and timing in support of USSPACECOM and other combatant commands. He also executes command and control of assigned multinational forces in support of operation Olympic Defender, as directed by USSPACECOM.

Brig. Gen. Davidson is a 1993 graduate from Oklahoma State University’s Reserve Officer Training Corps program. He is a career Special Tactics Officer and has led special operations forces during operations Provide Comfort II, Assured Response, Joint Endeavor, Enduring Freedom - Philippines, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. He commanded at the squadron, group and wing levels and led joint operations as the Chief of Staff for Special Operations Command Central. Prior to assuming his current assignment, Brig. Gen. Davidson served as the Executive Officer to the Air Force Chief of Staff .
