BRIGADIER GENERAL DAVID W. SMITH

Brig. Gen. David W. Smith is the Mobilization Assistant to the Commander, U.S. Air Forces Central Command, Southwest Asia. As the Mobilization Assistant, the general assists with the development of contingency plans and the execution of air operations for the 20-nation U.S. Central Command area of responsibility covering Central and Southwest Asia. He is a joint qualified officer who has served at the combatant command level and the Department of the Air Force level. Brig. Gen. Smith was previously the Mobilization Assistant to the Director, Operational Capability Requirements, Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategic Plans and Requirements, Department of the Air Force, the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia.

Brig. Gen. Smith earned his commission from the United States Air Force Academy in 1992. He is a combat-proven command pilot who has deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, three tours supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom and operations Allied Force, Northern Watch, Southern Watch and Noble Eagle.

He joined the Air Force Reserve in 2002, and has previously served as Commander of the 419th Fighter Wing, Hill Air Force Base, Utah. Brig. Gen Smith has commanded at the squadron, group and wing levels.
