TROY J. MCINTOSH

Mr. Troy J. McIntosh, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Reserve Affairs and Airman and Guardian Readiness, the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia. His responsibilities include planning, establishing policy for and implementing activities crucial to the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve, as well as Total Force Airman Readiness. Mr. McIntosh’s Reserve Affairs duties encompass the policy and oversight for mobilization, organization, training and equipping and peacetime support activities. Policy for health affairs, transition and veterans’ programs, family support, commissaries and chaplain programs are included under Airman Readiness responsibilities.

Prior to his current assignment, Mr. McIntosh was Deputy Director, Air Force Review Boards Agency, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Manpower and Reserve Affairs, Arlington, Virginia. He was responsible for the management and operation of multiple military and civilian appellate processes that ensure due process, equity, fairness, and impartial treatment for all applicants. He oversaw the Air Force Personnel Council, Air Force Board for Correction of Military Records, Air Force Civilian Appellate Review Office, Air Force Security Protection Directorate, and the Department of Defense Physical Disability Board of Review.

Mr. McIntosh enlisted in the Air Force in 1981 and began his active-duty career as a Security Specialist. Mr. McIntosh transitioned from the active component to the Air National Guard, taking on the challenge of Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of Personnel Readiness at the 144th Fighter Wing, Fresno Air National Guard Base, California. After seven years, Mr. McIntosh moved on to the Air Force Reserve working in the Policy Integration Division, where he handled enlisted issues and entitlements. In 2007, Mr. McIntosh became the 13th Command Chief Master Sergeant, Air Force Reserve Command, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. There, he represented the highest level of enlisted leadership in the command, advising the commander on all matters concerning the health, morale, welfare, and effective management of more than 78,000 active duty and reserve enlisted members at more than 66 locations. He then transitioned to the Director, Physical Disability Board of Review, Air Force Review Boards Agency, Joint Base Andrews, Maryland and then in 2018 became the Executive Director, Air Force Board for Correction of Military Records, Air Force Review Boards Agency, JB Andrews, Md. In January 2020, he assumed the current role as the Deputy Director, Air Force Review Boards Agency.
