Maj. Gen. Daniel A. DeVoe is the Commander of the Air Force District of Washington and the 320th Air Expeditionary Wing, headquartered at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland. AFDW is the Air Force component to the Joint Task Force-National Capital Region and is responsible for organizing, training and equipping combat forces for aerospace expeditionary forces, homeland operations, civil support, national special security events and ceremonial events. AFDW also provides major-command-level support for 33,000 military and civilian personnel assigned worldwide.
Maj. Gen. DeVoe received his commission from the U.S. Air Force Academy. As an Aircraft Maintenance Officer, he held multiple positions to include back-shop engine repair, quality assurance and sustainment program management. Following undergraduate navigator training, he held multiple flying assignments as a C-130 Adverse Weather Aerial Delivery System Navigator, Instructor, Evaluator, Prime Nuclear Airlift Force Navigator and C-130 Weapons Officer. Maj. Gen. DeVoe has flown more than 440 combat hours supporting operations in the Balkans, Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria. He served as both a contingency response Airman and an air advisor, as well as on the Headquarters Air Force and U.S. Central Command staffs.
Maj. Gen. DeVoe commanded a Global Mobility Squadron, served as an Air Expeditionary Wing Vice Wing Commander, commanded an Airlift Wing including the C-130 Center of Excellence and Formal Training Unit and commanded the 618th Air Operations Center (Tanker Airlift Control Center). Prior to his current assignment, General DeVoe was the Director, Integration and Innovation, Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategy, Integration and Requirements, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia.
