Jennifer M. Orozco, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is the Deputy Chief Information Officer for the Department of the Air Force, comprised of the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force. She assists the Chief Information Officer in leading three directorates–Enterprise Information Technology, Data and Artificial Intelligence, and Cybersecurity–and supports 20,000 cyber operations and support personnel around the globe with a portfolio valued at $17 billion.
Ms. Orozco provides oversight of the Department of the Air Force Information Technology investment strategy from networks to cloud computing, Enterprise policies, data management, digital transformation, information resources management, IT innovation initiatives, information assurance and related matters for the Department of the Air Force. She delivers cybersecurity and enforces Freedom of Information Act, Privacy Act laws and the ethical use of AI in the Department. Ms. Orozco integrates warfighting and mission support capabilities by networking and securing air, space and terrestrial assets.
In her previous position, Ms. Orozco served as the Director of Security, Special Program Oversight and Information Protection, Office of the Administrative Assistant, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, Arlington, Virginia. In that role she provided security leadership, policy direction, integration and oversight of the Department of the Air Force’s Special Access Programs and Information Protection Enterprise to protect the nation’s most sensitive information, technologies and capabilities. She was also the Functional Manager for the Department of the Air Force’s more than 2,000-member civilian security community.
Ms. Orozco served as an officer on active and reserve Air Force from 1996 to 2016 in a variety of Security Forces assignments. She entered federal civil service in 2008 with the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Intelligence. She transferred to the Department of the Air Force in 2013 and was instrumental in standing up the Air Force Counter Insider Threat program and leading Department of Defense efforts in personnel vetting and security reform. She was appointed to the Senior Executive Service in 2020 as the Deputy Director, Security Special Program Oversight and Information Protection.
