JOHN E. CANNADAY

John E. Cannaday, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is the Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary (Contracting) for Headquarters U.S. Air Force, the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia. He assists the Deputy Assistant Secretary in carrying out responsibilities for all aspects of contracting related to the acquisition of weapon systems, logistics support, materiel and services for the Air Force. As ADAS(C), he oversees the training, organizing and equipping of a workforce of some 8,000 contracting professionals who execute programs worth more than $65 billion annually.

Mr. Cannaday entered the Air Force in 1984 after receiving his commission through Reserve Officer Training Corps at The Citadel, South Carolina. During his active duty and government civilian career, he has been assigned to seven Military Department and Defense Agencies performing a broad spectrum of acquisition and contracting missions. He was appointed to the Senior Executive Service in 2020.

Prior to assuming his current duties, he served as the Deputy Director of Contracts, Operations and Services for the Missile Defense Agency.
