Brigadier General ANTHONY P. ANGELLO

Brig. Gen. Anthony P. “Tony” Angello is the Mobilization Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategic Deterrence and Nuclear Integration, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia. The general is responsible for supporting the Deputy Chief of Staff on all matters pertaining to Nuclear Deterrence Operations reportable to the Secretary and Chief of Staff of the Air Force. He assists the Deputy Chief of Staff in providing direction, guidance, integration, and advocacy regarding the nuclear deterrence mission of the U.S. Air Force and engages with joint and interagency partners for nuclear enterprise solutions.

Brig. Gen. Angello began his career as a 1990 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy. Before joining the Air Force Reserve in 1999, he served nine years on active duty, including flying tours in the Pacific and the continental United States as part of the combat rescue and special operations communities. Since then, he has held numerous squadron, group, wing, numbered Air Force, and Headquarters Air Force command/leadership positions as part of the Air Force’s mobility, intercontinental ballistic missile, and nuclear command and control missions. Additionally, Brig. Gen. Angello commanded deployed mobility airlift support operations in Europe and the Southwest Asia area of operations. A career instructor pilot and evaluator, Brig. Gen. Angello is a command pilot with more than 5,700 fixed and rotary winged military flight hours in the C-17A Globemaster III, T-37, MH-53J/M Pave Low III, HH-3E Jolly Green Giant, and the UH-1H Huey.

Prior to assuming his current position, Brig. Gen. Angello was the Mobilization Assistant the Director of Air and Cyberspace Operations, Pacific Air Forces, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. In his capacity, he assisted the Director in supporting the Pacific Air Forces Commander, the United States Pacific Command's Operations Center, and the directing of air operations in the Pacific Area of Responsibility, while assisting in leading 45,000 Airmen stationed in Japan, Korea, Alaska and Guam.  In his civilian career, the general has more than 20 years of experience as a flight officer in the U.S. airline industry.
