Brig. Gen. Janette L. Thode is the Mobilization Assistant to the Director of Strategic Plans, Programs and Requirements at Headquarters Air Force Global Strike Command, Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana. She assists the director with strategic planning, establishing requirements and programming advocacy for the nation’s B-1, B-2 and B-52 bombers; MH-139 and UH-1N helicopters; the E-4B National Airborne Operations Center Aircraft; and Nuclear Command, Control and Communications systems. She also supports the development of funding and requirements for the modernization and recapitalization of strategic nuclear forces to include the B-21 Raider and Sentinel missile, with a total annual budget exceeding $201 billion.
The general commissioned into the Air Force in May 1995 as a ROTC distinguished graduate from University of Miami, Florida. She completed Specialized Undergraduate Navigator training in 1996, serving the regular Air Force as a B-1 weapons system officer instructor and evaluator. She transitioned to the Air Force Reserve in 2005 where she served in a variety of staff and command assignments at the wing and Headquarters Air Force. She is a senior navigator with more than 1,700 B-1 hours and multiple deployments in support of operations Allied Force, Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. Prior to her current assignment, she was the Mobilization Assistant to the Director of Plans, Programs and Requirements Headquarters Air Education and Training Command, Joint Base San Antonio Randolph, Texas.
