Brig. Gen. Paul G. Filcek is the Director of Logistics, United States Africa Command (USAFRICOM), United States Army Garrison-Stuttgart, Kelley Barracks, Germany. He is responsible for a team of 50 military and civilian personnel in the administration and execution of logistics throughout 53 countries in the Africa area of responsibility, with additional focuses on engineering support and strategic engagement.
A former master sergeant, Brig. Gen. Filcek earned his commission from Officer Training School in 1997 after more than 12 years of service in five assignments maintaining four types of aircraft. His total maintenance, programming, and command experience spans eight major commands and includes 24 unique aircraft types. Brig. Gen. Filcek has served as Installation Commander, 72d Air Base Wing; Deputy Commander, Air Force District of Washington; and commanded the Presidential Logistics Squadron (Air Force One). He has also served on the Air Mobility Command staff, Air Staff and Space Staff, and as Vice Commander of the largest Air Logistics Complex (depot) in the Air Force. Prior to his current assignment, Brig. Gen. Filcek was the 82d Training Wing and Installation Commander, Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas.
