JOHN H. STONEBURG

Mr. John H. Stoneburg, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is the Executive Director to the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Manpower and Reserve Affairs. In this capacity, the director supervises manpower, personnel (military and civilian), Reserve component affairs, and readiness support for the nearly 680,000 Airmen and Guardians serving in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force. He provides senior executive leadership and management direction across the entire Manpower and Reserve Affairs portfolio, including policymaking, program management, and execution. The director conducts analysis of policies, facilitates the development of innovative strategies, and provides oversight to ensure programs meet high standards of performance, ethics, and efficiency.

Mr. Stoneburg recently served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army (Military Personnel and Quality of Life). In this role, Mr. Stoneburg provided policy, supervision, and oversight of military human resources programs including medical and health affairs, recruiting and retention, quality of life, casualty affairs, readiness, training, and mobilization for the Total Force. He additionally provided policy oversight for voluntary education, child and youth services, morale, welfare, and recreation. He was also a member of the Board of Directors for Army & Air Force Exchange Service and the Defense Commissary Agency.

Mr. Stoneburg joined the U.S. Army in 1991 and served as an enlisted soldier, officer, and civil servant for over 34 years. He last served on active duty as a Military Police Corps officer, culminating with his last assignment on the Army Staff before retiring in 2012. He entered the civil service immediately following his military retirement. Mr. Stoneburg is also a U.S. Air Force spouse.
