KIM M. BROWN

Kim M. Brown, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is the Director of Manpower, Personnel and Services Directorate, Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. She serves as the senior civilian official in force development, management, and sustainment of the command’s 89,000 military and civilian professionals. These individuals are located throughout the U.S. and overseas in research facilities, test sites, universities, and at product development, logistics and specialized centers. Ms. Brown works with AFMC senior leadership to shape a dynamic workforce to deliver war-winning capabilities and provides oversight, direction and control for all force support activities within AFMC.

Ms. Brown began her civilian career in 1985 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where she worked for the Department of Defense Dependents Schools. Early on, she moved to various locations, including Keflavik, Iceland, where she again worked for the DoDDS; and Rome, New York, where she worked for Rome Laboratory and the Defense Finance and Accounting Service.

In 2000, Ms. Brown joined the logistics community at Robins AFB, Georgia. She served as an item manager for the next seven years where she progressed to a team lead in the C-130 Product Directorate of the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center. Ms. Brown was assigned to the Air Staff under HQ/A4IT at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, in April 2007 as a member of the Logistics Transformation Office. In 2017, she became the division chief for the Systems Integration Division, directing portfolio management, logistics process transformation and data transformation for the Air Force logistics enterprise. In this position, she shaped, developed, and championed Program Objective Memorandum requirements and budget execution of the Air Force Logistics Information Technology systems portfolio. She led business information technology systems standardization for capability acquisition, ensuring solutions interoperability and integration across cross-functional areas. She also managed strategic alignment of business processes, systems, and logistics processes to equip and enable warfighter support. In 2021, Ms. Brown transitioned to Headquarters Air Force, the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia, where she took on the role as technical director, Directorate of Logistics. She served in this role for two years and became the deputy director of logistics, Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Engineering, and Force Protection. She was responsible for supporting the director of logistics by providing executive leadership and direction for organizing, training, and equipping more than 201,000 logisticians who maintain and support mission generation and the aerospace weapon system inventory.

Prior to her current assignment, Ms. Brown served as the Director of Logistics and Logistics Services, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. She served as the director for the Center Senior Functional for Logistics, overseeing all activities for life cycle logistics and product support management. She provided program and resource support to 18 program executive offices and approximately 500 programs and was responsible for more than 3,800 life cycle logisticians.
