Michael R. Green, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is the Deputy Director of Security Forces, Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Engineering and Force Protection, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia. He is responsible for supporting the Director of Security Forces by providing executive leadership, direction, broad technical knowledge, and executive-level strategic continuity for a worldwide force of 43,000 active-duty, reserve component, and civilian security forces personnel conducting base defense operations, including physical security, antiterrorism, force protection and policing. He also serves as the senior Air Force civilian and functional manager overseeing all matters concerning the utilization, development, and career field management of the 5,000-person Department of the Air Force civilian security and police force. Finally, he serves as the Department of the Air Force, Chief of Police, and a member of the Department of War’s Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission.
Mr. Green is a 1994 graduate from the University of Maryland at College Park and was commissioned into the United States Air Force through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (distinguished graduate) in May 1994. Mr. Green retired with twenty-six years in Security Forces with experience in nuclear security, law enforcement, Presidential security, counter-drug operations, and anti-terrorism.
While in uniform, Mr. Green served as the Chief of Security Forces for Air Combat Command and as Plans Division Chief within the J-5 Directorate of United States Cyber Command. He also deployed in support of operation Enduring Freedom and operation Iraqi Freedom. Mr. Green had the honor of being selected for the Air Force Internship Program where he studied Organizational Management at The George Washington University, intermediate development education where he studied strategic intelligence at the Defense Intelligence Agency, and senior development education where he studied campaign planning and strategy at the Joint Advanced Warfighting School.
