Lt. Gen. Bradford R. Everman is the Commander, Continental U.S. North American Aerospace Defense Command Region; Commander, First Air Force (Air Forces Northern and Air Forces Space), Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida. As the Combined/Joint Force Air Component Commander, he is responsible for planning and conducting air defense and air sovereignty operations in the continental United States, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands; supporting the deployment, sustainment and redeployment of U.S. Air Forces in support of U.S. Northern Command and U.S. Space Command; providing Defense Support of Civil Authorities; executing Theater Security Cooperation with partner nations; and planning and executing contingency support operations for NASA human spaceflight programs. He ensures Civil Air Patrol is organized, trained, and equipped to fulfill Air Force assigned missions; the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center executes inland search and rescue coordination; the Air Force National Security Emergency Preparedness deploys and sustains Air Force Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officers; and Detachment 3 (Patrick Space Force Base, Florida) effectively trains Department of War personnel for the rescue, recovery, retrieval, and worldwide support of NASA’s human spaceflight programs.
Lt. Gen. Everman commissioned through the U.S. Air Force Academy in May 1991. He served operational tours in the South Korea and at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho, as well as a staff tour at Air Combat Command Headquarters. In 2001, he transferred to active service in the Air National Guard, commanding at the squadron, group, and wing levels. He attended the U.S. Air Force Weapons School and is a command pilot with more than 3,350 flight hours in the F-16. He served eight tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan in support of Operations Northern Watch, Southern Watch, Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, including two tours as a Squadron Commander.
Prior to assuming his current position, the general was dual-hatted as the Assistant Adjutant General for Air, New Jersey, while also serving as the Air National Guard Assistant to the Commander, Continental United States NORAD Region and First Air Force (AFNORTH and AFSPACE).
