BRIGADIER GENERAL WADE R. SMITH

Brig. Gen. Wade R. Smith is the Mobilization Assistant to the Director, Defense Contract Management Agency, Fort Lee, Va. He is responsible for advising the director on Total Force employment capabilities to support and further DCMA’s mission success. In addition, he provides specialized technical and management advice to the director and senior staff in leading approximately 11,000 professional civilian and military employees located at more than 740 world-wide locations, managing 340,000 contracts valued at $5 trillion and awarded to greater than 20,000 contractors.

General Smith was commissioned in 1986 through the Reserve Officer Training Corps upon graduation from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he received a Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering degree. He has served on both active duty and in the Air Force Reserve at the squadron level, research laboratories, system program office, and on the Air Staff.

General Smith has more than 1,400 hours of flight test experience as a military, civil servant, and contractor flight test engineer in a wide variety of aircraft. In his civilian professional capacity, he is a flight test engineer with the Federal Aviation Administration's Atlanta Aircraft Certification Office.
