Major General STEPHEN C. WILLIAMS

Maj. Gen. Stephen C. Williams is the Special Assistant to the Commander, Air Combat Command, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. Maj. Gen. Williams supports and advises the Commander of Air Combat Command. Operating more than 1,000 aircraft, 35 wings, 12 bases, and 1,336 units at more than 242 operating locations worldwide with 156,739 total force military and civilian personnel, Air Combat Command provides conventional and information warfare forces to all unified commands to ensure air, space, cyber, and information superiority for warfighters and national decision-makers.

Maj. Gen. Williams earned his commission from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1989 where he was the top graduate in engineering mechanics. He attended pilot training and was a distinguished graduate at Williams Air Force Base, Arizona. A career F-16 pilot, Maj. Gen. Williams commanded operational units at the squadron and wing levels. While deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom he earned the 2007 McKay Trophy for the most meritorious sortie of the year. Maj. Gen. Williams also served as Director of Defense Cybersecurity in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy at the Pentagon, Commandant of Cadets, U.S. Air Force Academy, and Director of Air and Cyberspace Operations, Headquarters Pacific Air Forces. Prior to assuming his current position, Maj. Gen. Williams served as the Chief of Staff, United States Forces Korea, U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys, South Korea.

Maj. Gen. Williams is a command pilot with more than 3,000 flying hours, including more than 260 combat hours earned during operations Southern Watch and Iraqi Freedom.
