Major General Richard D. Anderegg is mobilization assistant to the commander, Tactical Air Command, Langley Air Force Base, Va.

General Anderegg was born Dec. 7, 1931, In Cincinnati. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1954 with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering and received a master of business administration degree from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. He completed Air Command and Staff College in 1969 and Industrial College of the Armed Forces in 1971.

He was commissioned a second lieutenant in July 1954 at Ellington Air Force Base, Texas, and received his pilot wings in May 1956 at Reece Air Force Base, Texas. His first operational assignment was with the 27th Air Refueling Squadron at Bergstrom Air Force Base, Texas, flying KB-29Ps. In January 1985, he was released from active duty and in July 1958 he joined the Ohio National Guard at Springfield, as adjutant of the 121st Field Maintenance Squadron. The General served as a base operations officer for the 162nd Tactical Fighter Squadron from January 1960 until he was recalled to active duty in October 1961 during the Berlin Crisis.

The general left active duty in August 1962 and returned to service with the Air National Guard. From 1963 to 1973, he served consecutively as assistant flight commander, flight commander, instructor pilot, standardization and evaluation flight examiner, operations officer, and squadron commander flying F-84s and F-100s. In January 1973, he was assigned as air operations officer, Headquarters Ohio National Guard.

General Anderegg transferred to the Air Force Reserve in April 1973 when he became assistant reserve assistance officer to the Louisiana Wing, Civil Air Patrol. From June 1975 to August 1976, he served as mobilization augmentee to the deputy chief of staff for operations, plans and readiness, Directorate of Operations and Readiness, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C. He subsequently became mobilization Assistant to the commander, 20th Air Division, Aerospace Defense Command, Fort Lee Air Force Station, Va.

In December 1978, General Anderegg was named mobilization Assistant to the deputy chief of staff for operations at Tactical Air Command Headquarters. He assumed his present duties in May 1982.

His military decorations and awards include the Presidential Unit Citation Emblem, Combat Readiness Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Hourglass Device and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon.

In his civilian capacity, General Anderegg is senior vice president and general manager of Ideal Basic Industries, Mobile, Ala.

The general’s civic affiliations include membership in the Bienville Club, Cherokee Town Club, Air Force Association, Reserve Officers Association, Civil Air Patrol and American Society of Engineers. He is a registered professional engineer and has been honored as a distinguished engineering alumnus of the University of Cincinnati.

He was promoted to major general Feb. 10, 1982, with same date of rank.

General Anderegg is married to the former Pamela Short of Brisbane Australia. They have two Children: Deborah (Mrs. John Kwan) and Douglass.
