Major General JOHN R. GORDY II

Maj. Gen. John R. Gordy II is the Assistant Deputy Under Secretary of the Air Force, International Affairs, Office of the Under Secretary of the Air Force, the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia. In this position, he assists in providing oversight and guidance for U.S. Air Force international policy and programs supporting national security objectives through politico-military affairs, security assistance programs, technology and information disclosure, education and training, cooperative research and development and management of the Air Force Foreign Liaison Office and attaché affairs. Maj. Gen. Gordy also assists in managing 470 cooperative research, development, test and evaluation agreements valued at $56 billion, as well as more than 2,800 foreign military sales cases totaling $162 billion. Additionally, he exercises administrative control for 154 U.S. Air Force military exchange personnel in 36 partner nations.

Maj. Gen. Gordy received his commission through the ROTC program at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte in 1988. His career includes numerous operational and staff assignments at the squadron, wing, major command, combatant command and joint staff levels. He has commanded at the squadron, wing and Numbered Air Force levels, and served as both a wing and Numbered Air Force vice commander. He is a graduate of the United States Air Force Weapons School and National War College. Prior to his current assignment, he served as the Commander of the United States Air Force Expeditionary Center.

Maj. Gen. Gordy is a master navigator with more than 4,700 flying hours in the C-130 E/H and T-43 aircraft.
