Air Force cyclists took home three medals in the Warrior Games 2013 cycling competition at Falcon Stadium May 12.

Maj. Scott Bullis of Peterson Air Force Base took first place in the men's recumbent cycle race to win the Air Force's first gold medal of this year's Warrior Games.

"This is my first gold," he said after finishing the race. "I'm proud of my teammates."

The competition ended with Army dominating the medal count with nine. Special Operations Command and Marine Corps each took home four, Air Force three, and Navy won a bronze medal.

Prince Harry took part in pre-race ceremonies and cheered on the more than 80 U.S. and British armed forces racers.

"There's no reason the Warrior Games should not be recognized worldwide," he said during his speech to the crowd before the race.

Dozens of service members and families attended the competition to cheer on their friends and loved ones.

"It's amazing to see how so many people can overcome adversity to continue doing great things in life," said Evie Wess, who was at the competition to cheer on her son. "I'm just so proud to see everyone compete."

Gen. William Shelton, the commander of Air Force Space Command, also spoke during the opening ceremonies.

"It's just a unique experience seeing them come back, being able to compete (and) being able to do things that are physically challenging for them," he said. "To be here as part of this is inspirational for us all."
