USAF Marathon officials here say you should plan to be informed and inspired at the USAF Marathon Sports and Fitness Expo on Sept. 17 and 18.

Nationally-syndicated "consumer warrior" Clark Howard and Boston Marathon Director Dave McGillivray are just two of the speakers scheduled to provide information focusing on health and wellness during presentations at the Ervin J. Nutter Center at nearby Wright State University. WSU staff and faculty are in partnership with USAF Marathon officials for both the expo and the marathon's 5K race, which will be run on the campus grounds the evening of Sept. 18.

The USAF Marathon, half-marathon and 10K races will be run on Sept. 19. All races will begin and end at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.

The Sports and Fitness Expo is free and open to the public. The Expo will feature more than 50 vendors, providing a range of running items, including apparel and gear, training and nutrition products, food samples, guest speakers and much more.

The Expo begins at noon and ends at 7 p.m. on Sept 17, and is open from noon to 8 p.m. on Sept. 18. Runners must pick up their race packets at the Expo. There is no packet pick-up on Sept. 19.

Mr. Howard and Mr. McGillivray will offer sessions on fiscal and physical fitness, respectively.  Mr. Howard is scheduled to run the USAF Marathon/WSU 5K race, as well.

Other expo sessions will feature Rob Powers, a nationally-recognized athlete and coach, offering basic marathon "do's and don'ts," with stories of risk and reward; Ray Szymanski, Wright-Patterson AFB installation civilian wellness program director, speaking on ways to enjoy the marathon experience to its fullest; and Jim Crist, USAF Marathon pace team leader, who will share key tips learned through years of running and assist other runners in meeting their goals.
