Track-Field: Air Force Academy claims 13 all-conference selections

The Air Force track and field team collected 13 all-conference honors at the recent Mountain West Conference Championships in Laramie, Wyo., the league office announced May 18. By finishing within the top three of their respective events, 11 individuals and one relay team earned all-conference distinction.

The men collected eight top-three finishes, while the women earned five. The five medals for the women's team marked the most ever for the women's team in Mountain West Conference action. An impressive four all-MWC selections came from the Falcons' youngest class.

Junior Sara Neubauer picked up a pair of all-conference awards, as she finished second in both the discus throw and shot put. She was joined on the women's all-conference roster by classmate Ally Romanko (third, 800-meter dash), freshman Paige Blackburn (third, javelin throw) and freshman Kimber Shealy (third, pole vault).

On the men's side, cadets accounted for two of the top-three placements in two separate events. Senior Skylar Morgan and sophomore Noah Palicia finished first and second, respectively, in the decathlon. It was the first all-conference selection for both Morgan and Palicia.

Senior Kellen Curry was the runner-up in the 110-meter hurdles, while freshman Bryce Bergman took third. Curry and Bergman also were a part of the all-MWC 4x100-meter relay team, joining senior Matthew Davis and sophomore Matthew Jones. It is the third straight year that the 4x100-meter relay squad has accounted for a top-three mark.

Senior Sean Houseworth placed third in the 5000-meter run, while junior Nick Frawley earned the same placement in the pole vault and freshman Robert Drye made his outdoor debut with a third-place throw in the hammer.

For their careers, Houseworth and Curry each accounted for seven all-conference honors.
